Thomas Winston Morgan has dedicated more than twenty years to advancing global education through nonprofit leadership. His career reflects a deep commitment to creating opportunities where students, families, and communities engage across cultures in ways that foster understanding, justice, and social responsibility.
For sixteen years, Thomas served as Executive Director of IPSL (International Partnership for Service-Learning), a nonprofit organization that blends academic study with volunteer service to strengthen communities worldwide. Under his leadership, IPSL expanded its reach and impact, building partnerships that empowered both students and host communities.
Previously, Thomas directed global programs with the University of Oregon and AFS Intercultural Programs, two organizations rooted in advancing cross-cultural exchange and nonprofit service. In these roles, he collaborated with educators, community leaders, and families to design and sustain programs that prepared thousands of students for meaningful intercultural experiences.
Thomas’s own journey began when, as a high school student, he spent a transformative year in Tegucigalpa, Honduras through an AFS exchange program. This experience set the foundation for a life devoted to nonprofit service, intercultural education, and advocacy.
He holds an academic background in Germanic Languages and Literature, Spanish, and International Business, and is fluent in German, Spanish, and French, with working knowledge of Italian and Portuguese, and is currently studying Thai. His commitment extends beyond education into advocacy for LGBTQIA+ rights, racial equity, animal rights, and environmental sustainability—values that guide his nonprofit work and leadership philosophy.
Throughout his career, Thomas has championed the idea that study abroad and service-learning programs are not luxuries, but essential pathways to building more just, compassionate, and globally minded societies.
